This quilt image depicts a work in progress (double-click on it to enlarge) with two of the three panels complete. Here's more about the project.
Faith Ringgold and I have been commissioned by IRC to design and construct this "What Will you Do For Peace Quilt" inspired by the NYC youth that created the images published in a book by the same name.

Following the tragic events on September 11, 2001, the InterRelations Collaborative brought together young people from diverse communities across New York City to document their experiences on 9/11. In their own words and images, they produced a remarkable book they called What Will You Do For Peace? Impact of 9/11 on New York City Youth calling for peace and understanding. Their powerful artwork and moving narrative caught the attention of New York City visual artist, Faith Ringgold, and we were honored to publish this book in association with her.
